Fubo Is Still A No-No For Sports Fans And Now It Costs Even More Money

ree

I subscribe to every major multichannel TV streaming service including DirecTV Stream, Frndly, Fubo, Hulu + Live TV, Philo, Sling and YouTube TV. Today, I received an email from Fubo with the headline, "Important Account Update". I get enough of these to know that the word, "important" is relative. As in, it's probably going to be more important to Fubo than will be to me. Sure enough, a monthly increase of $5.00 is coming for their three general service plans and $1.00 more for their regional sports network fee.

Back in April of 2023, I wrote a post, countering Fubo's claim of being a streaming service geared to sports fans. In fact, its advertising campaign’s theme even has the tagline, "If Sports Fans Built a Streaming Service.” I had to throw a challenge flag back then and call "Unsportsmanlike Conduct” with perhaps a little false advertising thrown in for good measure. It looks like that flag is going to be thrown once again.

As of January of 2024, Fubo is still missing a lot from the sports calendar. Namely, many NBA and NHL regular season and playoff games, some MLB games and most of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. That’s because Fubo does not offer TBS, TNT or Tru Networks. While it does offer some baseball, basketball and hockey action on ESPN, the MLB, NBA and NHL Networks and the local CBS-TV affiliate, that still leaves a hole as large as the size of the one in the White Sox roster.

It wasn’t always thus. When Fubo launched in 2015, they had a deal to carry Turner Networks, the purveyors of TBS, TNT and Tru as well as CNN and Cartoon Network. If you don’t care about sports, Fubo may be worth considering. Even with their price increase they have three pricing tiers that start at around $80 a month. But remember, you won’t get CNN (if you like their brand of news) and the other Turner Networks. So, before you go that route, you might want to check into Sling TV. Its Orange Network at $40 a month offers CNN, TBS, TNT as well as ESPN. I have a spreadsheet that lists every streaming service's channels. Email me at hmwellsradio@gmail.com and I'll send you a copy.

Since I retired from the radio business, I've had the time to do research on the best offers from Television, Cellular and Internet providers. I've saved households from hundreds to even thousands of dollars with some savings ongoing. For a free look at your TV, Cell and Internet bills and to answer any questions, email hmwellsradio@gmail.com or visit lowertechbills.com because you may not have the time to do all the research, but I do.
